  1. Question—wouldn’t the rust preventive spray just come off on the first use of the blade? Or is this primarily for when you’ll be storing a blade?

  2. Just left this tip as a comment on a video by Brian McCauley on this subject. I also add a splash of vinegar for a little more effect. Just don’t let it soak too long.

  3. I’m willing to bet that most of the effect is from the soaking in the boiling water, but I’ll try it with and without baking soda to see if there’s a difference.
